What is Milva Lab?

What is a LIMS for environmental and building labs, and how is it different from a spreadsheet?
A LIMS (laboratory information management system) is the system a lab runs its samples, results and reports in. Unlike a spreadsheet, it captures an order once, logs every handoff in the chain of custody with a timestamp and handler ID, releases results from the lab's own record, and generates the invoice from the approved report. Milva Lab adds what environmental and building labs need on top: client ordering, a customer app and portal, and automatic reporting.
How long does it take to go live?
After the demo we agree a kickoff date. Then comes an implementation plan, a migration plan and onboarding of your team. You retire paper and invite your clients, and you are typically live within a few months.
Can we migrate from Excel or our current LIMS?
Yes. We offer a data migration service for labs coming from Excel or a legacy LIMS. Historical sample and client records can be imported before go-live, and you go live in steps while the lab keeps running.
What kind of labs is Milva Lab built for?
Labs that sell testing or analysis to external clients, particularly environmental and materials-testing labs. It is not built for internal or research-only labs, hospital pathology networks, or internal pharmaceutical QC.
Can our clients track their samples?
Yes. Clients use the customer app to register samples on site and follow their status in real time (received, in analysis, report ready), with email or SMS updates. The logistics integration also tracks samples in transit, from drop-off or pickup through to lab delivery.
What happens to our existing clients, do they need to learn something?
They do not need to install anything. Clients order through the customer app in any browser, with no download required, and follow each sample from received to report ready. Email or SMS updates tell them when something changes. Your team stops being the status line.
Can Milva Lab generate invoices automatically?
Yes. When a report is approved, the invoice is generated from the completed order using your configured pricing rules. Invoices can be posted to Business Central or e-conomic, so nothing is retyped.

Does Milva Lab handle sample logistics?
Yes. Clients choose a private drop point, a parcel shop or delivery to the lab in the customer app, and the shipment is booked with the carrier for you. Logistics can be switched on or off per lab.
Are reports generated automatically?
Yes. Each analysis is linked to a report template. When an order's analyses are complete, the reports are generated with your branding, and once approved they are released to the client online and as PDF.
